Why do we overseed after scarification?
The photos below are perfect examples of why overseeding is so much more effective after a scarification process.
When you scarify your lawn the machine (or rake) is digging into the profile to remove that thatch layer. This happens in lines spaced by the width of the blades.
As a by product of this process a perfect seed bed is created as the optimal depth to plant grass seed is roughly 6mm.
To smash this renovation out of the park, add a top dressing and cover the seed for great germination results.
