How long do I need to wait before feeding my new lawn?

So, the new lawn is there, you’re buzzing with excitement about the emerald green sward that you’ll be looking at this summer. The new turf is down and you’re sure you should be doing something, but you don’t know what that ‘something’ might be!
Based on years of experience in professional lawn laying and maintenance, these are the things to think about:
ROOTS - You need to work out when the lawn is established. It’s all about the roots. The strength and long life of your grass depends on the establishment of a good rooting system. Depending on the time of year, it might take 2 to 4 weeks for newly planted turf to establish enough roots to be self-sufficient.
CARE - in the first couple of weeks the new lawn is extremely delicate. Don’t walk on it and certainly don’t start mowing yet.
WATER - Water is your lawn’s best friend - now and forever more! To reduce the chance of roots drying or shrinking, apply water. For everything you need to know about watering newly laid turf, check out this blog. Keep the moisture there - water little and often. Don’t over-water as that stops the grass ‘rooting in’.
